I have studied with some of the very best in the holistic bodywork industry through the School of Healing Arts, the International Professional School of Bodywork (CMT and HHP), Greet the Day (Oncology Massage) and the Norton School of Lymphedema (MPD and CDT).
I approach each client with compassion, curiosity, a learner's mind and a deep understanding of the modalities I practice and their powerful capacity to heal.
I customize each session to best meet your needs using a therapeutic blend of modalities, including Swedish Massage, Rhythmic Deep Tissue, Deep Tissue Sculpting, Sensory Repatterning, Neuromuscular Therapy, Tui Na, Table Thai, Structural Integration and Jin Shin energy work where and when needed.
Jin Shin energy work is especially useful for people who may have health issues that contraindicate traditional massage work or who are simply looking for something new to help with issues such as joint pain, sleeping problems, anxiety, stress and depression. which is done while the client is lying face up and fully clothed.
Prior to becoming a massage therapist, I spent many years working with non-profit organizations and crisis centers (LGBT youth, homeless youth, domestic violence shelters, after-school groups with at-risk youth). I have over 10 years of experience answering domestic violence, rape crisis lines, and LGBT support lines.
In stark contrast to the above, I have also worked as a carpenter's apprentice and a tile setter apprentice, worked as a semi-professional photojournalist, survived 3 years as a front desk hotel/hostel clerk, owned a feminist retail/art gallery/communityspace and pretty much mastered the art of a perfect cappuccino at a locally owned coffee shop before leaving to study massage full-time.
When considering a new career move - I weighed and measured all of my skill sets and decided that what I love most is working with my hands and helping people, thus - the healing path of massage and bodywork.
